You get paid in company stock. Managing it is a full-time job.

Most of the employees we meet aren't bad with money. They're out of hours. Their pay arrives in shares on a schedule they don't control, taxed by rules they didn't write, sold in windows someone else sets. And all of it lands on a calendar that already belongs to the company.

The compensation and benefits alone are a lot to keep straight: stock, bonuses, a 401(k), the enrollment packet every fall. You’re grinding at work and short on hours, so the decisions get put off or made on the fly, and none of it adds up to a plan. Nothing is pointed at a finish line. It’s not how much you earn. It’s how soon work becomes optional.

Does any of this sound familiar?

What employees tell us in the first meeting, almost word for word.

“My shares vest in a few weeks and I have no idea what they'll cost me in tax.”

“Way too much of what I own is in one stock. I know it. I haven't done anything about it.”

“I've had options for years because nobody can explain them to me in the time I actually have.”

“My 401(k) is the biggest account I own, and my advisor isn't allowed to touch it.”

“The deferred comp election is a ten-year decision and I'm making it between meetings.”

“Selling feels disloyal. Holding feels like confidence. So I do nothing.”

If you nodded at a couple of those, you're in good company. Your company hired experts to design your pay. Nobody hired one for your side of it. That's not a gap in you. It's a gap in the setup, and it's the one we fill.

Everything under one roof.

The Capitol Family Office Formula coordinates every key area of your financial life. You skip the time, the headaches, and the costly mistakes, and get back to what actually matters.

Here is what each side of it means when part of your pay comes as company stock.

Grow it
Wealth Management
Your money working as hard as you do.
  • Your 401(k) stops running on autopilot. We manage it while you still work there, not someday after you leave.
  • No more agonizing every time company stock lands in your account. The decision is already made, in writing, on a calm day.
  • Every account you have, on one page. For the first time, you can see the whole picture.
Keep it
Tax Planning
Less of it lost to taxes.
  • No more surprise tax bills in April. We fix the shortfall before it happens, not after you owe it.
  • When company stock comes your way, you keep more of it. We plan the timing so less goes to taxes.
  • The benefits choices work sends you every year stop being a guess. We tell you what to pick and why.
Protect it
Asset Protection
One bad year can't undo twenty good ones.
  • If your company has a bad year, your family doesn't. Your paycheck and your savings stop riding on the same stock.
  • If you leave or get laid off, your family's life and disability coverage doesn't walk out the door with your badge.
  • One accident or lawsuit shouldn't undo twenty years of work. We make sure you're covered for what you've actually built.
Pass it on
Estate & Legacy
It ends up where you want it.
  • The right people get what you built. Every account names who you want today, not who you picked fifteen years ago.
  • More goes to your family and the causes you care about. Less goes to taxes.
  • If something happens to you, your family isn't left guessing. They know where everything is and who to call.

We know the grind. We lived it.

We've been in your shoes.

We spent part of our careers as company employees. The 8 to 8, the emails after dinner, the pressure to perform every single day to keep the job. We know what it's like to have stock, a 401(k), and a pile of benefits worth maximizing, and no time, energy, or training left to make them work together. We built Capitol Family Office for exactly that.

We're specialists in companies like yours.

We have clients at Nike, Intel, Columbia Sportswear, Dell, Microsoft, Disney, and Apple, to name a few, as well as professionals like doctors, attorneys, and CPAs. Different companies, different plans, same job: get everything you're given working together so you reach your goals sooner.

Someone finally runs the whole.

Keep your CPA, your attorney, your insurance pro. They're good at their jobs. We're the one office accountable for how it all fits together, and when.

Straight answers for employees.

01 Can you manage my 401(k) without moving it?

Potentially. Many large companies let an outside advisor manage your 401(k) right inside the plan, so nothing moves and you keep every benefit the plan gives you. Every company sets its plan up differently, so we'll look into yours and tell you exactly what's possible.

02 Will you understand my company's benefits?

Yes. We've dealt with a lot of different plans over the years. We ask for your employer on the form, and we'll review your employer documents, including your stock plan, 401(k), and benefits, during our conversation. Different company, different rules, same goal: coordinate everything you have and optimize it.

03 How much of my time will this take?

The heavy lifting happens on our side. You get scheduled meetings through the year, timed to the moments that matter, like vest dates, open enrollment, and tax season, and a short list of decisions only when a decision is actually needed.

04 What if I change jobs or get laid off?

The plan comes with you. Job changes, layoffs, and early retirement offers are exactly the moments the plan is built for: what to do with the old 401(k), what happens to your unvested stock, how to bridge health coverage, and whether this is the moment work becomes optional. You call us first, and we walk through it together.

05 Do I have to give up my CPA or attorney?

Not necessarily. You're going to need specialists. Our role is to make sure the ones you have are qualified, expert at their specific jobs, and willing to coordinate with the other people in your life. Keeping everything coordinated is part of our job.

06 Where are you located?

In the Portland, Oregon area. All meetings happen over video, so we work with families across the country as easily as across town. Capitol Family Office is a fee-only financial planner and fiduciary, independent since 2011.

07 What's your minimum?

$1M in investable assets, counting things like your 401(k), IRAs, brokerage accounts, and company stock. Not sure whether you're there? Fill out the form anyway and let's have a conversation.
